Approximate Healing SCHEDULE FOR LIPS

*Healing time frames may vary based on the individual’s skin type and daily habits.

DayWhat to Expect
1Continual Removal of Lymph to Avoid Heavy Scabbing: The lips may be swollen and there may be numbness for a few hours. After the procedure, clean the lips with a damp cotton pad using bottled water every 30 min until bedtime. It is very important to gently remove lymph from the surface of the skin throughout the day to avoid heavy scabbing. Scabbing can lead to loss of pigment and undesirable results. Before sleeping, if the lips have any dry lymph, wash with lukewarm water and gently remove the dry lymph and gently pad dry. Apply Aquaphor Healing Ointment to maintain moisturizing. Aquaphor can be found in any drug store or grocery store, in both normal adult moisturizer and baby section.
2Appearance = Swollen: The lips may continue to appear swollen. Never use ice packs on the lips. Keep the lips moisturized at all times. Only use provided or approved ointments. Aquaphor may be used as a substitute. Never use Vaseline, antibiotic creams, Neosporin, etc.
3-7Continue to Keep Lips Moisturized at All Times: Cracked/peeling lips can cause loss of pigment and undesirable results; therefore, the lip must remain moisturized at all times, during days 1 to 7 or even longer, until all scabbing are gone. Avoid the following exposures on the procedure areas: Water, make up, excessive sweating, no sauna, no pools, no sunbathing. Do not pick or peel scabs as it will result in scaring. Do not apply anything on your lips besides Aquaphor. Never use ointments such as Vaseline, antibiotic creams, Neosporin etc.
For 4 WeeksContinued Lip Care: Continue to avoid using any creams, balms, or medications that contain acids or ingredients that will lighten or exfoliate the skin.
