PRE-PROCEDURE AND AFTERCARE REQUIREMENTS

IMPORTANT:
All clients must provide advanced notice if you recently performed laser eye surgery or laser skin treatments.

Multiple sessions required: All permanent cosmeticprocedures are a multi-session process. You are required to come back for at least one touch-up visit before it can be determined that your work is complete. Touch-up visits are scheduled at 6 to 8-week intervals or longer.

Be prepared The initial color intensity of your procedure to be significantly sharper, brighter, or darker than what is expected for the final outcome. It will take time for this transition based upon how quickly the outer layer of your skin exfoliates.

Tattoo colors are constant, while skin tones change:  While the color may initially simulate the exact color and tone desired, the color may not always remain a perfect match to your skin tone. Tattooed colors are constant, while your own skin color will vary depending on exposure to cold, heat, sun, and circulatory changes. For example, if your skin tans and you had a scar camouflage, your surrounding skin will become darker in appearance than the treated area.

  1. Social Planning Considerations:  Delicate skin or sensitive areas may swell slightly or redden.  Therefore, some clients feel it is best not to make any social plans for a day or two following a procedure.  It is always best to avoid these procedures within months prior to important life events such as weddings.  Achieving completely healed results may take longer than expected under certain circumstances.
  2. Eyebrow Procedures: Wearyour normal makeup or bring your brow pencils to your consult, but you do not have to for your procedure.
  3. Eyeliner Procedures:  Please do not wear mascara to an eyeliner procedure.
  4. Tweezing, Waxing, and Electrolysis:  Tweezing and waxing should be done at least 48 hours prior to the procedure; electrolysis no less than 5 days before. Do not resume ANY method of hair removal for at least two weeks.
  5. Tinting & Curling:  Any eyelash or eyebrow tinting, or eyelash curling should be done no sooner than 48 hours before, or two weeks after the procedure.
  6. No Contact Lenses: Do not wear contact lenses during or within 48 hours following the eyeliner procedure.  Very important – Bring your glasses!  You can resume wearing contacts after your eyes return to their pre-tattooed condition.
  7. Eyeglasses and/or Designated DriverFollowing the eyeliner procedures, as a safety precaution, we recommend that you have someone available to accompany you or drive you home.
  8. Blood-Thinning and Judgement-Altering Substances:  Refrain from the use of alcohol, aspirin, aspirin-containing medications, ibuprofen, or other blood-thinning medications for seven days before and two days after any procedure. Refrain from judgment-altering drugs for at least 24 hours prior to any procedure. No medication should ever be discontinued without first consulting your physician. A skin test is offered upon request.

Proper care following your procedure is necessary to achieve the best results. Keep in mind that in many cases, some unevenness of color is to be expected. The purpose of the touch-up visit is to correct any color or shape issues. Please review the following directions and refer to them as necessary. If during your healing process you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

  1. Keep the Procedure Area Dry:  Do not directly expose your treated area to water, including but not limited to, direct or indirect shower spray, bath, ocean, pool, sweating, or any other liquids, creams, or ointments other than what has been provided for 10 days after the treatment.  Even a small drop of water which seems unimportant, may expand the wound, cause an increased possibility of infections, create excessive scabbing, and can ruin your results.  No sweating (of any kind), gym, yoga, swimming for at least 10 days.  If you continue to work out regularly, your results may heal to a powdered look due to oils that the body produces when it gets heated and sweaty.
  2. The Use of Icepacks:  Icepacks protected with a cloth may be applied as necessary to reduce swelling but only if it’s possible to keep the area dry.  Sleeping slightly elevated helps alleviate swelling sometimes seen in the morning after facial procedures.  Icing for only 3 minutes and five minutes rest alternatively.  Do not use ice packs on lip procedures.
  3. Itchingis Normal:  DO NOT PICK, PEEL, OR SCRATCH the treated area.  Picking or peeling will result in uneven color and will increase your risk of scarring and infection.
  4. Avoid Sun Exposure:  Do not expose your healing skin to direct sun, tanning beds, hot tubs (tub bath if body area treated), saunas, saltwater, chlorinated pools, or extremely hot water for 2 weeks
  5. Daily Sun Protection:  Use a good sunscreen daily, even the lips require protection. Sun exposure will fade your permanent cosmetics and may cause irritation even years after a procedure.
  6. Communicate with professionals proactively:  If you are planning chemical exfoliation or other cosmetic medical procedures, please inform the technician or physician of your cosmetic tattoo.
  7. Donating Blood:  Suzukoo Relaxation & Skin Design is a licensed and regulated tattoo operation and therefore the Red Cross and Community Blood Center policies normally allow you to donate after receiving a permanent procedure.  However, we still recommend that you communicate and verify.

Approximate Healing Schedule for Permanent Cosmetics

*Healing time frames may vary based on the individual’s skin type and daily habits.

DayWhat to Expect
1-2What You Will See: The pigment color is 20–60% darker, bolder, and more solid than the fully healed result in 30-40 days. There may be swelling; however, any swelling will be limited as the eyebrow area does not retain much fluid.  For Ombre Powder Eyebrow procedures, it is especially important to remove lymph from the surface of the skin to avoid heavy scabbing which will lead to undesirable healed results.
3Itchy Sensation: The eyebrows may begin to itch, and the pigment may appear raised. DO NOT SCRATCH!
4-6Exfoliation Begins: Your skin is now rapidly exfoliating and, if left alone, will shed evenly. The color under the skin will continue to appear light until the epidermis becomes more transparent. The color will return to a darker, natural look when healed. Be patient. Do not rush the natural healing process.
30-40Color Returns: The eyebrows have gone through a full cycle of cellular regeneration and now the tattoo has now become a part of the dermis, seen under the epidermis.  The color that appeared light and faded in week 1, should return during this period; however, a following touch-up appointment is still highly recommended to correct any naturally occurring imperfections.
DayWhat to Expect
1Appearance = Slightly Puffy to Swollen: Eye condition may be slightly puffy to swollen, heavy lids, light sensitivity, and it's possible to see bloodshot eyes. Sleeping in an elevated position will help reduce swelling.
2Potentially Swollen and Crusty: Eyes may be swollen and a bit “crusty”. The swelling will reduce after being in an upright position for a little while. Avoid heavy lifting, physical exertion, and crying.
3Reduced Swelling: Eyes will be less swollen but will remain feeling tight.  The lash area will feel sore if touched.
3-4Flaking: The top layer of skin will begin to flake off in small stitch-like lines.  In some cases, the exfoliation may not be noticeable. Do not pick – pigment will be removed, causing the eyeliner color to heal unevenly.  It is important to never pick at it or rub the eyes during the period of exfoliation.
7-9Exfoliation Period Complete: All flaking or shedding should be complete.  Showering is now safe. The pigment may appear to have faded but this is temporary and a normal part of the healing process.
10Appearance = Near Complete Healed Result: The appearance will be close to the healed result. Much of the pigment color should return within a month. Although color has returned, the following touch-up appointment is still recommended to correct naturally occurring imperfections and to ensure the best color installation. It is important to have the following touch-up appointment scheduled in advance, preferably within 6-8 weeks of the initial procedure appointment.

NOTE: The outcome of semi-permanent cosmetic procedures is dictated by the canvas (your skin). The better condition your skin is in, the better the final result will be. Very oily, dry, or sun damaged skin can be very difficult to achieve a beautiful even result. Mature clients may need an additional one to two weeks healing for the final results to appear. The better you take care of your skin and protect it from UV rays, the better the outcome and lifespan of the permanent cosmetics procedures.

DayWhat to Expect
1Continual Removal of Lymph to Avoid Heavy Scabbing: The lips may be swollen and there may be numbness for a few hours. After the procedure, clean the lips with a damp cotton pad using bottled water every 30 min until bedtime. It is very important to gently remove lymph from the surface of the skin throughout the day to avoid heavy scabbing. Scabbing can lead to loss of pigment and undesirable results. Before sleeping, if the lips have any dry lymph, wash with lukewarm water and gently remove the dry lymph and gently pad dry. Apply Aquaphor Healing Ointment to maintain moisturizing. Aquaphor can be found in any drug store or grocery store, in both normal adult moisturizer and baby section.
2Appearance = Swollen: The lips may continue to appear swollen. Never use ice packs on the lips. Keep the lips moisturized at all times. Only use provided or approved ointments. Aquaphor may be used as a substitute. Never use Vaseline, antibiotic creams, Neosporin, etc.
3-7Continue to Keep Lips Moisturized at All Times: Cracked/peeling lips can cause loss of pigment and undesirable results; therefore, the lip must remain moisturized at all times, during days 1 to 7 or even longer, until all scabbing are gone. Avoid the following exposures on the procedure areas: Water, make up, excessive sweating, no sauna, no pools, no sunbathing. Do not pick or peel scabs as it will result in scaring. Do not apply anything on your lips besides Aquaphor. Never use ointments such as Vaseline, antibiotic creams, Neosporin etc.
For 4 WeeksContinued Lip Care: Continue to avoid using any creams, balms, or medications that contain acids or ingredients that will lighten or exfoliate the skin.
